Project Introduction
Directly administered by the Ministry of Education of China,Shaanxi Normal University is projected into “World-class Discipline”. It is also a comprehensive and research university mainly featured by teacher education.The University was founded in 1944, situated in the ancient capital city of Xi’anwhich is one of the four internationally renowned historical and cultural cities.School of Marxism of SNNU has a history which canbedatedback to the year of 1952. It has a complete system to educate people from B.A, M.A to PHD of Marxist theory, enjoying high influence in both academy and society in China.
The establishment of the program“China’s Development and Governance”is an important initiative of School of Marxism of Shaanxi Normal University to contribute to the development of teacher education under the Belt and Road as well as the prosperity of humanity and social science. With global strategic horizon, this program covers the series courses with core competitiveness, the series lectures themed by“Development and Governance”, the series forums themed by “China and World”and the extracurricular practice themed by“Tradition and Frontiers”. All of these are designed to cultivate compound and senior talents who love Chinese culture and have a good understanding of China’s developmental path and governance experiences.
This is a three-year program with full-English courses in which Mandarin teaching is also strengthened.Graduated students are expected to be awarded with the graduation certificate for postgraduate student in the major of the Study of Marxism in China of Shaanxi Normal University. Also, those who meet the requirements of degree awarding will be awarded with the master of law degree in the relevant major..
Credit & Courses
Within the period of the firstfour semesters, studentsare required tocomplete 24 credits of course-work.This includes six compulsory courses and other extra selective courses as the charts shows below.With permission of the program director, students may also have access to thecourses that are offered by other departments at SNNU.This will be counted into the credits of selective courses.Students are required to submit a master’s thesis by the end of the fifth semester, and are also required to complete thesis defense in the sixth semester.

Scholarship
The School of Marxism offers different levels of scholarship for the successful applicants, including the full scholarship and partial scholarship.
This is a full scholarship which covers:
Registration fee waiver
Tuition waiver
Stipend: RMB 1500 yuan per month
(Stipend is provided for 10 months every year)
Medical insuranceProvided for the Students Coming to China:
Designated Insurance Company shall undertake the following insurance liabilities during the period of insurance:hospitalization expenses for serious illness, inpatient care fee and death compensations etc. Fees can be paid in advance by the third party.
Eligibility
The overseas applicants should have the foreign nationalities recognized by Chinese government. Applicants with dual nationalitiesare supposed togo through the entry registration procedures with the nationality used in the original application.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or above (Graduating students should complete all the learning tasks and beawardedwith Bachelor degreebefore August 31, 2020).
Applicantsare supposed to meet the requirements of English grade.The minimum English scores are IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 60 in all parts of listening, speaking, reading and writing. (Applicants who have studied for the highest degree with the language of English can provide valid English teaching certificate issued by their school. Applicants who come from countries authorizing English as official language do not have to provide certificate of English level).
Applicantsare supposed to submit two letters of recommendation.
Applicants who have research achievements or who have received awards will be prioritized for admission.
Application Documents (in duplicate)
①”Application Form for Shaanxi Normal University”which can be generated and printed from the”online system of application of Shaanxi Normal University”.
②Notarized certificate of highest diploma (photocopy);(If the applicants have not graduated or have been employed, they are additionally supposed to submit official documents issued by current school or employer to prove current status or expected graduation date.Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.)
③AcademicTranscripts. The transcripts of all courses during B.A and M.A(written in Chinese or English)(Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations).
④Research Achievements. Published thesis, award certificates, etc. to provey our academic achievements and research capabilities;
⑤A Study Plan or Research Proposal (at least 3000 words), which should focus on the relevant curriculum or orientation of China’s Development and Governance, written in Chinese or English, with personal signature.
⑥Two Recommendation Letters (written in Chinese or English);Applicants must submit two recommendation letters signed by professor or associate professor.
⑦Valid English level certificate or other corresponding English certificate(photocopy);
⑧Passport photocopy (The page with photo)
Please make sure your passport is within the validity period.
⑨”Foreigner Physical Examination Form”(photocopy is acceptable and please keep your original version). This form is uniformly printed by the Health and Quarantine Department of China. It is only for those who come to China to study for more than six months. It must be completed in English.The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without thephoto of the applicant, or the photos without the paging seals, or forms without the signature of the attending physicianand the hospital will beconsidered as invalid.
⑩Applicants need to have a certain foundation in Chinese, be able to complete basic communication in daily life, and have a valid HSK transcript (Applicants who have achieved HSK Level 3 or above level will be prioritized for admission)
Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the resultisvalid for only 6 months.
Pleases keep the original copy of the Form for school registration.
Notes on Application
All the documents should be bound together on top left corner in the order of ① to ⑨ and are required to submit TWO sets of bound documents to International Student Office,SNNU before May 31st, 2020.Please note that No application documents will be returned.Incomplete application documents won’t be processed.(Due to the epidemic situation, you only need to complete the online application, it is not necessary to send the hard copies.)
All documents should be in English. If you use other languages, you are supposed to submitthe notarized English translations withoriginal documents.
SNNU does not authorize any individual or institution to enroll in scholarship programs. All students please apply through the only official website.
International students must follow all the provisions of the Chinese government and Shaanxi Normal University about epidemic prevention and control.
Shaanxi Normal University reserves all rights to adjust relevant rules according to the change of epidemic.
Application Process
①Complete the online application procedure at Shaanxi Normal University Online Application System for International Students( Website:https://snnu.17gz.org/). Submit the completed Application Form online and print a hard copy;
②Submit all your application documents according to the“Application Materials”of term No.7 by post to International Students Office, SNNU before May 31st, 2020.
③Preliminary examination of materials, interviews and comprehensive assessment will beconductedin June 2020. The best applicants will be enrolled.The interview will be conducted online by the experts group.
④After the final auditing, the admission name list will be announced online during July-August 2020. The new semester will start in September 2020.
